America Held Hostage:
By inflated Food Prices, suffocating social media, a Broken Border, and of course Lawfare ...
Did you know that the famous TV show Nightline had a different name when it began. It was 1979 and the American hostages were taken in Tehran. Americans were deeply concerned.
Roone Arledge, a famous TV executive who invented Monday Night Football in 1970, decided to take on the famous Johnny Carson Show at 11:35pm ET each night.
Arledge bet Americans would be riveted by the Hostage Crisis … he wanted to tap into their concern and ride the wave for the weeks or months that the hostages were held. It didn’t work out so quickly - it took 444 days and a new President Reagan to free the hostages.
The show was called The Iran Crisis–America Held Hostage: Day 1. Each night, the show delivered facts and updates in a 20 minutes show. It was a runaway hit.
America Held Hostage.

I have been struggling to put into words how I feel about so much of America right now … and I finally found it: we are being held hostage.
We are held hostage by high food prices … the pundits and government keep saying “the economy is doing better than expected” but going out to eat requires a loan.
We hear that there are plenty of jobs but too many of us are feeling like we are running in place or even falling behind. Hostage to a broken economy.
Social media and Big Media are designed to make us feel terrible: scared, lonely, and especially designed to make us angry at someone else. Ugly. Leaves me feeling hostage.
We are seeing the border wide open. The fentanyl flowing through the border is killing our men and we now know that there are now over 7 million new “migrants” here … they have not been vetted and we see that they are NOT a family of four with a Guadalupe statue but foreign national men who may (or may not) hate our way of life. Literally, we are being held hostage by a broken border.
And then there is lawfare. Every day you see more and more people arrested or harassed by government officials who don’t agree wit them. The prosecution/persecution of Trump is clear and horrendous. The J6 prisoners are hostages of the lie that Pelosi/Cheney told about January 6th. Musk is being investigates. Conservative non-profits like the NRA and VDARE are targetted. Lawyers who represent conservatives are attacked by the Bar. Conservatives are cancelled and their assets diminished.
(One of the most insane aspects of this moment in history: the prosecutors and their allies don’t hide their conduct: they brag about it. “If you elect me, I will get Trump” might be NY AG Letitia James campaiagn slogan.)

Even politics seems like a hostage movie: we are trapped in a system that is designed to empower the important and the elected. We the people feel more and more left behind.
The questions is this: can we break away from our hostage takers?
In 1980, it took a new President. That’s a start.
